Maximilian Wanner is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science at Stockholm University working on work package 2 of Transformative Partnerships 2030. Affiliated with the Centre of Natural Hazards and Disaster Science (CNDS), Max defended his PhD at the Department of Government, Uppsala University, in 2022.
His research interests cover sustainable development in its widest sense including environmental politics and climate change adaptation as well as disaster risk reduction and crisis management. His recent publications cover both international and national perspectives; however, he has a strong interest in the sub-national level.
In the past, he has investigated different aspects of disaster governance, effectiveness, and leadership. He also contributed to theories on international environmental agreements with regard to soft law regimes. His academic publications have appeared in peer-reviewed journals such as International Environmental Agreements, Politics & Governance, and the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction.
