Magdalena Bexell leads work package 3 of Transformative Partnerships 2030. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Lund University.
Her main fields of research are international relations, global governance, sustainable development politics, and human rights. Her current research projects concern the global 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on governance processes at the global-national nexus. This includes questions on legitimacy, responsibility, and accountability in sustainable development politics in global and national institutions. A related strand of her research explores the role of nonstate actors in governance processes of the 2030 Agenda, such as transnational multistakeholder partnerships, civil society organizations, and certification/ranking bodies. This is underpinned by a broader interest in how notions of public and private spheres of responsibility develop over time in different contexts.
