Essraa Hussein is a Project Officer at the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development. She is an affiliated researcher of Transformative Partnerships 2030. Essraa worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute for Futures Studies on the project in 2021-2022. She contributed to work package 1 of Transformative Partnerships 2030 and was responsible for the quantitative mapping of multi-stakeholder partnerships (MSPs) that address multiple Sustainable Development Goals. The mapping provides an overview of the landscape of MSPs, their policy functions, and their synergies.
Essraa holds a master’s degree in Political Science from Uppsala University and a BA in Global Development Studies from Stockholm University. Her research interests are in the areas of international relations, peace and conflict, sustainable development, and (inter)national security. Her recent research has focused on armed politics, governance and legitimacy, especially analyzing the roles of states and non-state armed actors in creating wartime political orders in the Middle East. Essraa has additional experience of working with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
